JOHNSON CITY - Sharon Kay Garland Daniels, 73, left this side of life and entered her Heavenly home on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Johnson City, Tennessee. Sharon was born on July 15, 1950 to Clyde D. and Mary (Leonard) Garland. Her upbringing cultivated a charming balance of farm-girl grit and a polished, yet understated style. She was a graduate of University School and became an LPN studying in Nashville, Tennessee. After many years of working as a nurse in the field of dermatology, she chose to work from home as a stay-at-home mother until her beloved children reached school age. Then, Sharon was employed by the Johnson City School System for several decades in food service management where she was awarded the highest marks for continual superior attributes in both health standards and food quality.
In her personal life, Sharon had an experience most people only dream of when at nineteen years old she fell in love at first sight with Robert "Bob" Daniels. The feeling was mutual and after a whirlwind romance of three short months, they were married. Together they lived out a real-life fairy tale of wedded bliss and faithful partnership lasting fifty-four years until his passing on December 16, 2021. She had missed him every day since.
Sharon is survived by her son, Josh Daniels (Melodie) and her daughter Julie Daniels Dugger (Scott) who were her greatest sources of pride. She leaves behind four grandsons Taw Dugger, Ivan Daniels, Cohen Daniels, and Gideon Daniels who kept her amply supplied with borderline sketchy shenanigans and boisterous laughter. They were the joy of her twilight years.
Among her many creative hobbies, Sharon loved to cook and everyone who ate her cooking loved her all the more for it. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed using this talent to praise her Savior in church choirs throughout her life.
Being possessed of a witty and mischievous sense of humor, Sharon was the type of friend you knew you shouldn't sit beside during situations that required a serious demeanor, unless you were willing to get into trouble. Her laughter and smile were contagious.
For the past two years, Sharon had the comfort of her sidekick canine companion, Gus, who provided solace after the passing of her husband.
Sharon was blessed with a bounty of precious friends who shared her joys and helped carry her burdens. Josh, Julie and family wish to extend a special note of appreciation to Rose for her devoted care and providing a respite from weariness for Bob and Sharon during their final years.
The family will be holding a graveside service at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Johnson City, Tennessee on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11 am. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sharon's memory to her favorite charity, Unicoi County Animal Shelter 185 N Industrial Drive, Erwin, TN 37650.
