Sara Lou McWherter November 16, 1935- May 29, 2024
JONESBOROUGH - As the Lord gently closed the book of her earthly life, Sara Lou Runion McWherter, age 88 1/2, was called to her eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 8:15pm, while lovingly surrounded by family and friends.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her brother, Robert Runion; her sons, David Dulaney (Kim) and Chris McWherter (Joann Johnson); her adoring grandchildren, Dustin McWherter (Rebecca) and Brooke Phillips (Josh); great-grandchildren Ned and Matilda, daughter-in-law, Kim Henegar. Sara is now cradled in the arms of Jesus and reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Ned McWherter; her son, Gary McWherter; her parents, Chloe and Robert Runion Sr.; and her four-legged furry friend, Taz.
Sara bequeathed her body to ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, forgoing traditional ceremonies in favor of contributing to the greater good. A service to honor her life and her unwavering faith will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mustard Seed Worship Center at 897 Mayberry Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
