Sandy Hallenbeck Obituary

Sandy Hallenbeck

February 24, 1959 -

December 11, 2025

PINEY FLATS - It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Sandy Hallenbeck, of Piney Flats, Tennessee. Sandy passed peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, after a very courageous battle with cancer through the last few months.

Sandy was born on February 24, 1959 to James and Rosalee Fitzgerald.

After graduating from Daniel Boone High School, she began her banking career, which spanned 35 years (the last 15 of which were spent at Carter County Bank). In 2018, she retired from banking and followed her heart into the world of substitute teaching at Gray Elementary, which quickly became her passion.

One of Sandy's greatest gifts was her loving spirit, and the ability to make others comfortable, and feel validated. This gift was obvious through her teaching, where her daily purpose and prayer was to make the children under her care feel loved and valued every day.

Sandy also had a love of the great outdoors, and spending time at the beach with family and friends was her happy place. She loved spending time working in her flowers, as was evident around her home where you can find the most beautiful and prolific flower gardens!

Sandy's faith was one thing she possessed that she always wanted to share with others. She was a member of Liberty Fellowship Church for over 30 years and loved attending classes where she continued to learn and understand the scriptures. Sandy enjoyed discussing special verses and passages of scripture with close friends, as they shared discussions about the Bible. It was her wish, even through this difficult journey of cancer, that God would be glorified through her life.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents; sister, Dean-na; and brother, Jimmy.

Those left to cherish her memories include her loving husband of 22 years, Gerald (Clip) Hallenbeck, two sons, Brian (wife Lindsey) Whittington, and Adam Whittington, four cherished grandchildren who were the lights of her life, Allie and Lillian Whittington and Charlotte and Lachlan Huber, nieces Amber (Jimmy) Green and Jessica Fitzgerald, sister Paula (Lisa) Fitzgerald, stepchildren, Kate (Jason) Necessary, Stephen Hallenbeck, and Grayson (Haijing) Hallenbeck, and special friends Nicole Chambers, Ryan and Chris Wilson, and Keaton Rader.

A visitation of family and friends is scheduled for 4:30 pm till 6:30 pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in the Dogwood Chapel at Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Sandy will begin immediately following the visitation at 6:30 pm. Pastor Emeritus Dan Foster will be officiating the service.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 am.
