JOHNSON CITY - Sandra "Sandy" Hopson Walters, age 76, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Floyd Hopson and Mayme Howell Hopson Boyd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, William Boyd; her husband, David Bradley Walters; and one brother, Robert Edward "Shorty" Boyd.
Sandy was of the Christian faith. She retired with 30+ years of service from United Mountain Telephone Company as an Operator. She had served as Union Representative at the phone company. Sandy loved crafting, reading, gardening, and sewing. She will be remembered for how she was always thinking of others and lending a helping hand to anyone she could.
She is survived by three siblings, Susan Hopson Evans, William "Hoppy" Boyd and wife Sharon, and Betty Bolton and husband George; one aunt, Georgia Bawgus; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 12:00PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home with Pastor David Rouse officiating. Private Interment will be held in the Garden of the Cross at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their thanks to ICU Staff at the Johnson City Medical Center and to her neighbor, Shawn Smith for all the love and care that was shown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to local animal shelter or food bank of choice.
