Samantha Louise Diana Grindstaff

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved angel, Samantha Louise Diana Grindstaff. She passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Debbie Tolley Grindstaff and the late Billy Jack Grindstaff. Samantha was a shining light in our lives and will be forever be remembered for her kindness, compassion, service to others, sparkling eyes and sweet smile. She went out of her way to help anyone in need. Samantha enjoyed her time volunteering at the Waters Nursing Home. She loved animals, babies and the elderly. Samantha will be missed by so many.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bill and Georgia Grindstaff; her maternal grandparents, Sam and Louise Copas Tolley; an uncle, Shelby Grindstaff; three aunts, Delaine Sanders, Diana Tolley and Ruth Stillwagon.

Survivors include her mother, Debbie Tolley Grindstaff; a brother, Matthew Grindsaff; a niece, Gracie Grindstaff; five aunts, Stephanie May and husband, Scott, Sandra Kinley, Pauline Gillis and husband, Jerry, Judy Blankenship and husband, Richard and Edith Grindstaff; an uncle, Johnny Grindstaff and wife, Tammy; three great-aunts, Linda Williams, Mary Moody and Patsy Byrd and husband, Allen; best friend, Robert Walden; special cousins, April, Christopher, Candi and Taylor; also numerous cousins.

Please join us in honoring her memory on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Lenny Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Graveside services will follow in the McKinley Memorial Bible Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends.

She truly loved the elderly. Samantha would always bring it to my attention if she seen my mother out and about. She was a genuine kind heart that will be greatly missed by many. My mother loved her and I did too.
