Ruth Elaine (Triemstra) Vroegop, age 81, went home to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 25, 2024, after suffering with the effects of dementia.
Ruth was born on June 19, 1942, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, daughter of Bert and Johanna (Poortenga) Triemstra. She attended Kalamazoo Christian Schools graduating in 1960. There, she was actively involved in music and met the love of her life, William "Bill" Vroegop.
Ruth and Bill went on to marry on November 20, 1962, and start a family. Ruth was a loving, dedicated, and protective mother to their four children. She worked part-time outside the home after the children went to school, at Pension & Group and later at HRM, as well as being an active church organist at various churches for many years. In retirement, Ruth spent time volunteering at Second Impressions, her church and as a pianist at Park Village Pines.
She was a long-time member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church (and formerly of Knollwood CRC) where she served by playing the organ, singing and she was deeply involved in the church community.
Preceded in death by her parents; and son, Victor John in 2021, Ruth is survived by her loving husband Bill, their children, Cathryn (Ed) Glas, Curt (Jeni) Vroegop, Jessica (Darin) Klooster, daughter-in-love Lisa Vroegop, 11 grandchildren-Jake (Emma) Glas, Will Glas, Lydia Glas, Peter Glas, Nathan Glas, Jaden Vroegop, Gavin Vroegop, Rebecca Vroegop, Rachel Vroegop, Ruby Klooster and Stella Klooster and one great-grandson Theodore Glas. She is also survived by her three brothers, Richard (Anne) Triemstra, William Triemstra, Paul (Leslie) Triemstra as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S 9th St Kalamazoo, MI 49009 and also on Wednesday from 10-11 am at church. Please join us in celebrating her life on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11:00 am at Heritage Christian Reformed Church 2857 S 11th St Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
