JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Ruth Agnes Regenold, age 96, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Lakebridge Healthcare Center.
She was born on October 27, 1929, 2 days before the start of the great depression. She was born to a farm life of hard labor in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to the late Russell and Agnes Rooney Weaver.
Ruth graduated as Co-Valedictorian from Powhatan High School in 1946. After High School she went on to graduate with her BS Degree from Mary Washington College, where she majored in Chemistry and Biology and minored in Mathematics and Physics. She completed the Medical Technology Program (ASCP) at Burge Hospital School of Medical Technology, in Springfield, Missouri in 1951 and then completed her Professional Teacher's Certificate in both Elementary and Secondary Education at East Tennessee State University in 1968. In 1973, Ruth graduated with her Masters of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee.
She worked in Illinois as a Medical Technologist but after moving to Elizabethton, she began her true passion, Education. Ruth spent many years working with young minds at the Vocation Technical School of Elizabethton and upon her retirement in 1995, she was the program director and instructor for the Nave Center of Elizabethton. After her retirement, Ruth returned to work as a Medical Technician at the Johnson City Medical Center where she worked until she was 85 years old.
Ruth was a talented pianist and played the organ for many years at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elizabethton. She enjoyed being outdoors and hiking. When her children were little, she could often be found taking them to concerts and enjoying herself just as much as they did. In her 70s she decided that she wanted to learn a new instrument and became a great accordion player.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Regenold; son, Jimmy Regenold, brother, Russell Weaver; sister, Patsy Sharp.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Regenold, Linda Regenold, and David Regenold (Hang Nguyen); sister, Nancy Camp; grandchildren, Nathaniel Regenold, Jonathan Regenold, Rey Ford, and Nikolai Regenold; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home located at, 418 W College Street, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
