ELIZABETHTON - Ruth Wilson Nave, age 91, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Hobert Wilson and Bell (Loudy) Wilson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Nave; grandson, Curtis Blaine Hyder, Jr.; granddaughter, Tina Renee Hyder; son-in-law, Larry Shorter; nine siblings, and step-grandchild, Sharon Griffith Compton.
Ruth was a member and Sunday School Teacher at East Fairview Freewill Baptist Church and Eastside Freewill Baptist Church. She sang in the quartet and choir at her church for several years. She loved the Lord and her family very much. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing with her husband, hummingbirds, ceramics and working word search puzzles.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Gary Nave and wife Mary, of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Pat Shorter and Patricia Bradford and husband Bill, all of Elizabethton; grandchildren, Heather Bradford Merritt and Michael Nave; great-grandchildren, Emily Merritt and Austin Hyder; step-granddaughters, Susan Harris, Sandy Simmons, Nikki McCallister, Summer Fields and Lindsey Mussard; her grand-dogs; several step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
A graveside service for Ruth will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2024 in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with Pastor Mark Grubb officiating. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM on Monday.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the 1st floor staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
