Roland Duquette Obituary

Roland Duquette

August 21, 2024

JONESBOROUGH – Roland Duquette, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Chartierville, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of the late Romeo and Irma Duquette. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Yvon, and his sister Liz.

Survivors include the love of his live, Simone. In September 2024, they would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They have three sons; Mario and wife Debbie, Allen and wife Lisa, Claude and wife Marie. Four grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and one great grandchild. Surviving siblings include, Dennis, Francine, and Noel (all of Canada). Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Roland began working at the young age of 12 with his father as a lumber jack. In 1961, he married Simone Giroux, who was from Coatlock, Quebec. Shortly after getting married, they moved to the USA. He worked various jobs as a carpenter. He really enjoyed woodworking. He has left us may pieces of beautiful furniture, bird houses, and just about anything made from wood. After they retired, they did a lot of traveling in their RV. They enjoyed visiting new placed and meeting new friends. One thing you can really say about dad is that he was honest and hard working. He was always there to help anyone with anything. He just loved a good meal, especially at the holidays. He so loved to put up Christmas lights each year, even if its just one string of lights.

He loved his family, and he always greeted people with a beautiful smile.

A Celebration of Life in loving memory of Roland will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, 2pm, at the Greenwood Ruritan Building, 118 Crockett Road, Jonesborough, TN. We will be gathering to share our favorite memories, followed by a luncheon served in his honor. He will be laid to rest in Canada at a later date.

Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 East Watuaga Ave, Johnson City, TN, is honored to be serving the Duquette family.
