Rodger Powell Obituary

Rev. Rodger O'Neil Powell

January 19, 1943 -

November 26, 2024

JOHNSON CITY - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rodger O'Neil Powell, a beloved husband, father, and minister, who departed this world peacefully on November 26, 2024, in Johnson City, Tennessee, at the age of 81. Born on January 19, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, Rodger dedicated his life to the service of others and the faithful ministry of his Christian faith.

Rodger was a man of unwavering strength, deep compassion, and remarkable commitment to his community and his congregation. He earned his Bachelor's Degree and devoted his life to the preaching and teaching of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ for more than 50 years. His favorite Bible verse Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Rodger is preceded in death by Parents Richard and Isabell; Sister Janis Conlon

He is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years, Patricia Powell; his devoted son, Brian Powell and (Jennifer); and his cherished daughter, Elizabeth Powell; grandchildren Michael, and Emily Powell; Sister Barbara Cremeans. Together, they will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled in them-faith, kindness, and service.

Rodger will be interred at a future date in Johnstown, Ohio. A graveside service honoring his life and contributions to his faith and community will be announced in the coming days. Friends, family, and all whose lives were enriched by Rodger's spirit are invited to come together to celebrate his remarkable journey and the legacy he leaves behind.

In this time of mourning, let us remember Rodger O'Neil Powell not only for the gentle guidance he provided but also for the love and light he brought into the lives of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
