UNICOI - Robert Dean Wiggins, age 84, of Unicoi, passed away at his residence on Thursday, February 15, 2024, while he was surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Towanda, Pennsylvania to the late Otto Wiggins and Marguerite Williams Wiggins Cobb. He moved to Unicoi County twenty years ago.
Robert retired from the United States Navy where he served his country honorably for twenty-seven years. He was awarded the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Pistol Sharpshooter .38 Caliber, Vietnam Service Medal, Four Good Conduct Awards. After his retirement he continued to be very involved with various military organizations. He graduated from Piedmont Bible College.
Robert was a member of Central Baptist Church of Johnson City. He enjoyed collecting antiques and beekeeping.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Teddy Cobb.
Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-four years, Patsy Ford Wiggins; two sons: Mike Wiggins and Mark Wiggins, both of Unicoi; three brothers: David Wiggins, Robert "Buddy" Cobb and Terry Cobb; one sister, Jo Anne Adams; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Wiggins family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Robert's funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Military Honors will be rendered by DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

We knew Bob from the Village Antiques, in Elizabethton. We always enjoyed the times when we had a few minutes to chat with him. Due to work, we will not be able to come by and pay our respects. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
