Robert Troy Parton May 2, 1952 - July 25, 2024
JONESBOROUGH - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Parton, 72, who passed after a long and hard-fought battle with Lewy body dementia. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Bob was born in Pittman Center. He grew up in the Gatlinburg area alongside his siblings and attended Gatlinburg-Pittman High School. He worked for many years as a machine operator doing road construction and retired from the Washington County Highway Department after a long career. He was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church as well as the Lamar Ruritan and was very active in the Lamar Community. He also served the community as one of the founding members of the Embreeville Volunteer Fire Department. He was an excellent cook and gardener who often fed the entire family. He was an avid bass fisherman, often fishing with the Tri-Cities Bass Club.
Bob is survived by daughters, Sheila Parton (Billy) and Torie Parton Booth; granddaughters Lindsey Walters (Sam), and Chelsea Shell (David); grandsons Alex Carter and Blaine Booth; great-grandsons Colton and Henry Walters; and siblings Donald Ramsey, Linda Ramsey-Clark, Ethel Parrott, Paul Ramsey (Tina), Cleo Ramsey (Janet), Tonya Maples, and Effie Ramsey; Aunt Helen Ogle. He was preceded in death by his father Arnold Parton and mother Juanita (Sue) Branam-Webb; wife of 43 years Janice Miller Parton, brother Larry Ramsey, sisters Carolyn Ramsey and Elizabeth Parton, Aunt Lillie Grace Webb, and son-in-law Jimmy Booth.
Bob did not desire a traditional funeral service and to honor his wishes, we will only have an intimate family service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Lewy Body Dementia Association. The family also asks for anyone who knew and loved Bob to please write down their favorite "Bob Story" and mail it to 112 Crocus Lane, Jonesborough, TN, 37659.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Angela Merrifield, Carroll and Bonnie Fender, Mike Buchanan, The Cox Family, and Rodney and John Ramsey. You all know what you each meant to Bob. We are eternally grateful for each of you.
Bob will be remembered for his storytelling of his adventures, as he lived life fearlessly. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, neighborly love, who lived life to the fullest.

I can't smell a can of peaches without thinking of Bob, sitting at a picnic table in west Texas with a bunch of no-account fishing buddies and wondering why we were drinking something that tasted like peaches and burned like fire. The Lepers will miss you Bob. And your peach juice. Warmest condolences to your family and friends who you left as your well deserved legacy. Tight lines!

I met Bob with Lindsey shopping at Sam´s one day. She always talked about him in such a high regard. You could tell his energy and vibes were very positive and he loved life. I know it is a sad day for many that loved him and I want to offer my deepest condolences. Continued prayers for the family.
