Robert Cecil Nave January 9, 1936- June 17, 2024
ELIZABEHTON - Robert Cecil Nave, age 88, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home. Robert was born January 9, 1936 in Carter County to the late Earnest and Retta (Church) Nave. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Simmons.
Robert was a quiet, gentle man and extremely smart. He built his own home and lived there for over 60 years. Robert gave his family adventures and could always find a mountain top or waterfall to share with those he loved. Robert was deeply spiritual and did everything with love in his heart. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. He was always working on something, either building things, creating things, or working outdoors. Robert retired from Alemite after 30 years of service as a tool and gauge inspector and he was also a proud United States Marine veteran. Robert will always be remembered and missed by everyone that knew him.
Those left to cherish Robert include his beloved wife of 51 years, Janis Nave of the home; his daughters, Suzanne Nave Artis of Elizabethton, Nikki Engle and husband Brad of Erwin and Wendy Wright and Tony of Elizabethton; his son, John Wright, Jr and wife Tammy of Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Cassie Franklin and husband Tim, Conner Campbell and Krista, Harrison Wright and wife Hollie, Sydney Wright, Troy Artis, Robin Engle and Samuel Engle; his great grandchildren, Jackson and Nora Franklin and Cooper and Crew Campbell. Several nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.
A service to celebrate Robert's life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor John Bunn officiating. Music will be under the direction of John Bunn. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Wednesday.
The family would like to thank Wendy, who used her nursing skills to help her family in Robert's final days and also to the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center doctors, nurses and staff for their excellent care.
