Rita Laughren Obituary
JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Rita Faye Hankal Laughren, age 67, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Laughren was born October 16, 1955, in Washington County, to Bill Hankal, Johnson City and the late Carmeleta Jackson Hankal. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Hankal, niece, Brittany Hankal and a son-in-law, James Archer.
She was a member of McKinley Memorial Bible Church.
Mrs. Laughren enjoyed writing poetry, sewing, quilting, growing flowers, baking and raising kittens. She loved Jesus and her family, adored her husband and cherished her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Gary Dean Laughren, Sr., Jonesborough; children, Dean Laughren (Aimee), Greeneville, Rachel Schlobohm (Dale) and Leah Ledford, all of Jonesborough; sister, Janie White (Roger), Jonesborough; twin sister, Anita Ayers, Kingsport; brother, Joe Hankal, Johnson City; grandchildren, Nathan Archer, Tia Morrison, Dylan Lawrence, Ava Laughren, Jackson Laughren, and Hudson Laughren; great-grandson, Elias Morrison; and several nephews, nieces and sisters-in-laws.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Lenny Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Jackson, Roger White, Nathan Archer, Dylan Lawrence, Dale Schlobohm, Joe Jackson, Van Dugger, Jeff Davis and Joe Willingham. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Hankal.
