JOHNSON CITY - Ricky Martin, 63, Johnson City, TN, died Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Lakebridge Health Care Center, following a lengthy illness.

Ricky was born in Hazard, KY and grew up in Whitesburg, KY before moving to Johnson City in 1990. He was a son of Daniel Martin, Whitesburg, and the late Donna Lee Longworth Martin.

Ricky was a "jack of all trades", and worked primarily as an automobile mechanic. He was a hard worker who provided for his family.

Ricky was a member of Princeton Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael White, a brother, Harold Longworth, his maternal grandmother, Mabel Longworth, and his paternal grandparents, Babe and Ebbie Martin.

In addition to his father, Ricky is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Patricia "Patti" Martin; seven children, Steven Martin and wife Priscilla, LaDonna Longworth, Todd Jones, Brayson Jones, Caylum Cole, and Demitrius Cole, all of Johnson City; a daughter-in-law, Heather White Garcia, Weber City, VA; six grandchildren, Lavaya, Anthony, Heaven, Landon, Gavin, and Michael, all of Johnson City; two brothers, Tony Longworth (Debbie), Whitesburg, KY, Daniel Martin, Jr. and wife Frankie, Isom, KY; one sister, Mia Ikard and husband Dean, Whitesburg, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Lakebridge Health Care Center for the excellent care given to Ricky.

The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor Charlie Frazier and Pastor Randy English, officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website, appfh.net.

The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

The graveside committal service will be held Thursday, at 11:00 A.M., in Cherokee Community Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 479 Bill Bennett Rd., Johnson City, TN 37604. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those planning to attend may either meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M., or meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery.
