Rickie Mosbaugh Obituary

Is with great sadness that we share that our brother, Rickie Mosbaugh, passed away today, January 29, 2024. Rickie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Chuck and Gloria Mosbaugh on September 22, 1950. There will be no service. The arrangements are being handled by Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin.

Rickie was diagnosed with a disability at an early age, but he had a good life. There were so many things he enjoyed. He was excited to travel to Florida each winter with his mom and dad where he had his own golf cart and he delivered mail to the residents at the RV camp where they stayed. Rickie became a fan of the volunteer Fire Department when his dad was on the force in Whiteland. With his strong interest and desire to help the firemen at the local Fire Department in Ft. Myers (close to the camp), the department rewarded him by making him an honorary fireman which was one of his proudest moments. He kept an emergency radio going all his life so he would know when the local fire department went on runs.

He enjoyed NASCAR racing and the Indiana pro teams (Colts and Pacers.) His very favorite team was the Indiana Pacers. He was a fan from day one, and that never changed. He'd put on his shirt, sit in his chair and become their armchair cheerleader. And his dream came true when he met Reggie Miller!

Each year, when possible, he volunteered at the Johnson County Fair's Gateway Lemonade stand. His favorite food and drink were french fries and vanilla shakes.

In 2010, Rickie moved to Morning Pointe Assistant Living. He loved being there and was well liked by the other residents and the staff. They became his extended family and the care he received there was outstanding. In 2020, he moved to Compass Park and was there at the time of his death being cared for by the Alliance Hospice & Pallative Care group. The family was blessed to have wonderful people caring for him through each move. Thanks to each and every one of them.

Rickie is survived by two sisters, Linda Waugh and Carole Kutruff; two nieces, Lisa Stinger (Brian) and Dawn Kutruff Geib (Leo); and one nephew, Scott Harter. Also surviving are a great niece, Kenna Bertsch; three great nephews, Alec Bertsch, Jarrett Bertsch, and Preston Stinger.

Uncle Rick was the kindest soul you could meet. My fondest memories were singing to Donna Summers albums with a wooden spoon as a microphone when my cousin Lisa and I would visit. He and I shared such a love for the Indiana Pacers. He touched so many lives and he will be missed. Rest in peace Uncle Rick!
