Richard Bennett Obituary

Richard Bennett April 5, 2024

JOHNSON CITY - Richard Bennett, 83, of Johnson City, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2024.

He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, son of the late Reverend Charlie Bennett and Pauline Casey Bennett.

Richard was a Christian, attending service at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a hard worker, spending 38 years working at the Watauga Quarry as a plant manager before his retirement in 2006.

Richard was happily married to Betty Jane Snyder for 56 years and was dedicated to his family. He loved spending time with them, taking many camping trips to Roan Mountain, going on cruises, or simply taking the time to go fishing together.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2015, Betty Snyder Bennett, and his son-in-law, Carl Henegar.

He is survived by his children: Vickie Munsey and husband Gordon, Steve Bennett and wife Tracy; as well as grandson, Zackery Bennett and wife Alexandria.

The family of Richard Bennett will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin promptly at 7:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Dexter Brummitt. Committal service will be held at 1:00 PM the following day, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to gather at the graveside by 12:50 PM.
