SPRUCE PINE, NC - Regina Lewis Henline, age 93 of Spruce Pine, NC passed away December 2, 2023. She was born in Yancey County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Halvey and Annie Gouge Lewis.
Regina graduated from Clearmont High School and from East Tennessee State College in 1952 with a major in Home Economics and English. Regina taught at Bowman High School and Mitchell High for over 30 years and took great satisfaction and joy in her students and their accomplishments. She was a member of the North Carolina Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Regina belonged to the Bakersville Baptist Church where she was active in children's programs and a member of the Women's Missionary Union. During her lifetime, Regina enjoyed reading, playing golf, flowers, gardening and was an excellent cook. She loved her family and friends and cherished time spent with them. Regina was a special person and will be loved and missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Sybil L. Hall and brother-in-law Sidney W. Hall; and her brother-in-law James E. Henline.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bill W. Henline of the home, and her daughter Debbie Lewis Henline of Johnson City, TN; and her sister-in-law, Eloise Hughes Henline of Bakersville, NC.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 5:00PM in Bakersville Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Sutton and Reverend Palma L. Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 1:00PM in Bakersville Memorial Cemetery.
