Rebecca "Becky" Ballard (Davis) February 22, 1948- July 15, 2024
Rebecca "Becky" Ballard (Davis), 76, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, with her children by her side.
Becky was a bright ray of sunshine born in Erwin, TN on February 22, 1948, to Stan and Helen Davis. She was a proud graduate of Unicoi County High School, Class of 1966.
Becky was a lover of the outdoors where she enjoyed hiking, camping, rafting in the mountains of Tennessee, North Carolina, and "Out West." Some of her favorite places included the Nolichucky River, Mt. Leconte in the The Great Smoky Mountains, Big Pine Key, FL, and Yellowstone National Park. Her father was a Master Diver and passed on his love of SCUBA and she became certified. She also enjoyed a long walk in her Johnson City neighborhood of Towne Acres, where she raised her kids with Steve Pollock (dec. 2013).
A couple of trips took her overseas where she hopped on a first-class train with family from London to Edinburgh, Scotland in 2008 and one big bucket list item to go on The Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, Austria in 2017.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Ballard, to whom she was married for 23 wonderful years. They enjoyed traveling Out West, working at Yellowstone National Park multiple seasons, and hauling their camper to sites around The South. They enjoyed playing cards and working on large puzzles together. They also spent a lot of time together on Boone Lake, visiting Lakeview and Sonny's Marina and traveling up the chairlift at Beech Mountain on summer days to enjoy a drink together.
Passing her love of the outdoors to them, she was an amazing mother and is survived by Beth Pollock Norwood (John) of Cartersville, GA, and Ben Pollock (Jessica) of Johns Island, SC.
She is also survived by five incredible grandchildren who were the joys of her life, Ben, Will, Isabella, Harvey, Jack and her younger brother, Jerry Davis of Pulaski, VA.
Beth and Ben would like to personally thank Amber and David Bumgarner and Florence and Richard Kostrzewa for being great friends and neighbors to Becky and Bill.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and Becky volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years.
Passed down from her mother, Becky's infectious laugh will be missed, and she was all about spreading peace and love. Please do the same in her honor.
A celebration of life is being planned for a day and time in the future.

So sorry for your loss of a wonderful person. Becky hired me years ago to take care of her mother Helen. Becky and I became friends and her mother was one of the greatest patients I ever had I was there to help Becky fix her mothers hair when she passed. Becky and I laughed together and when my husband met Becky and her husband Bill they hit it off and we all started cookouts playing card and meeting them at Rock creek park where they camped often. we shared so many great times together Becky will be missed in so many ways the memories together puts a smile on my face. Our children would play cards with Bill Becky and my husband Keith they adored Bill and Becky as well are whole family will miss her. I could go on with so many laughs and great memories together. Becky will be miss very much! with all our families Love and prayers for the family we love you Kathy, Keith and the girls Kimmy, Sarah and Ashely

Becky was a classmate and dear friend.. I walked to High School every day and would meet Becky at her house for the last part of the trek. Slumber Parties, a beach trip with my family, long phone conversations...wonderful memories. Her positive attitude and gracious personality could be counted on in any situation. She will be missed by so many.

Becky was such a kind, caring person. We were in high school together and hadn´t seen each other for years but ran into one another about a year ago. Then we ran into each other constantly - it became quite a joke. She was just a lovely person and always had a smile to say hello. I´m so sorry.

Becky and I were hiking up to Mt Leconte on the Rainbow Trail. It was my first time to Leconte. We got to Rainbow Falls, Beth was already there and her 3 children were playing in the creek. They weren't going to Mt Leconte. Becky wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to enjoy this moment with her grandchildren and said "This is as far as I'm going today." And there went my guide to Leconte. She said it's no big deal just stay on this trail, you can't miss it. She was right and right about spending time with her children on a beautiful Summer day playing in the creek. She had been to Mt Leconte a zillion times before.
I will miss her very much.

Becky was such an amazing friend who has definitely passed too soon. I will miss her so much She loved the outdoors, animals and was a friend to all. Even though she was 76, she didn´t seem to be a day past 30. We were all so lucky to have her as a part of our lives. I hope her family can find peace during this time.
