ERWIN - Raymond L. Tittle, age 87, of Erwin, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, while he was surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and son of the late Russell and Edna Bennett Tittle.
Raymond retired from NFS after thirty-eight years of service. He attended Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. Raymond loved singing in the choir. He was a past member of Care and Share Ministries. Raymond was a member of the Erwin Senior Center where he enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympics. He liked going on trips with his wife, Hazel.
After his retirement Raymond found a love for antique clocks and he had a collection of over one thousand clocks. Raymond was a godly example of a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by one son, Dorsey Tittle; five brothers: Russell Tittle, Jr., Roy Tittle, Cliff Tittle, Ira Tittle, and Dwight Tittle; one infant granddaughter.
Raymond leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beautiful bride of seventy years, Hazel Miller Tittle; son, Dr. Michael Ray Tittle and wife, Sharon; one grandson, Houston Tittle and wife, Kelci; one granddaughter, Andrea Tittle; three great grandsons: Remy, Tucker, and JD Tittle; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church. Reverend Steven Lewis will officiate Raymond's 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Eulogies will be given by Houston Tittle and Dr. Michael Tittle. Music will be provided by Stewart Blankenship and Larry Pate. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Shell, JP Street, Jim Buchanan, Greg Tittle, Homer Tittle, and David Tittle.
