Raymond Dupkoski Obituary

Raymond Glen Dupkoski

December 23, 1947 -

October 5, 2024

JOHNSON CITY - Raymond Glen Dupkoski, age 76, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024. A native of Mitchell County, NC, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Roberta Holland Dupkowski and was born on December 23, 1947. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Dupkoski, Donald Dupkoski and David Dupkoski and five sisters, Josephine Hughes, Margaret Hughes, Alice Dupkoski, Mary Groomes and Geraldine Rosser.

Raymond worked at Burlington Industries for over thirty years and retired from QEP Co. Inc. He was an honorable, hardworking, humble and kind man. He was a devoted son, husband, loving father and grandfather and friend. He never met a stranger. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting and spending time at the store with his friends in Buladean, NC. His interests included history, politics, NASCAR and bluegrass music. His favorite activities were playing his banjo and "making music" with family and friends. The Lord must have needed another banjo picker in Heaven.

Raymond's unconditional love, wisdom, support, phone calls, jokes and laughter will be greatly missed by all those he touched. He will be remembered for the life he led and the love he gave. He will be forever near because he lives within our hearts.

Those left to cherish his many memories include a son, Bradley Dupkoski (Pepper) of Jonesborough, TN; a daughter, Patricia Ledford of Johnson City, TN; three grandchildren, Megan Kelly (Matthew) of Duluth, GA, Jacob Ledford of Johnson City, and Joshua Ledford of Elizabethton; one brother, Bill Dupkoski of Bakersville, NC; one sister, Kathleen Bishop of California and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service for Raymond will be held at a later date. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, 1420 Milligan Highway, Johnson City, TN, 37601.

When I think of Raymond it is him playing his banjo. When he smiles at you after telling you a joke. His love and generosity for people. He will be missed

I always think of Raymond saying " glad you got to see me". I have good memories of his sense of humor and the way he always had time for us kids. He was a good uncle. We always enjoyed when he came to Buladean. He was a funny, kind and hard working man. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know he will be very missed by everyone who knew him.
