JOHNSON CITY - Phyllis Marie Silver, 82, Johnson City passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at her residence with her family by her side. She was a native of Banner Elk, NC and was a daughter of the late Oscar and Lola Smith Wright. Phyllis was an avid reader, she enjoyed her plants and being outside. She loved the sunshine more than anyone! Phyllis enjoyed watching cooking shows and baking for family gatherings. Most of all she enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Edward Wright and James Wayne Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Silver; her children, Cheyenne McKinney and husband, Arcos of Hampton, James Silver and wife, Melissa of Johnson City and Michael Silver and wife, Heather of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren, Shane Hayward, Joshua Hayward, Dylan Hayward, Nicole Hayward, Hope McKinney, Alicia Jimenez, Gavin Silver and Gracie Silver; ten great-grandchildren, Karlee, Aubrey, Harper, Hannah, Sawyer, Luna, Jordan, Austen, Annalise and Gabriella; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Phyllis will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2026 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour. A private family graveside service will be held in Banner Elk, NC at a later date.
