Phyllis Pinkston Obituary

JOHNSON CITY - Phyllis Pinkston, a beloved resident of Johnson City, Tennessee, joined the Lord on January 5, 2024, following a brief illness. Born and raised in Johnson City, she graduated from Science Hill High School in 1952 and later attended Carson Newman College. During this time, she met and married her true love, Don Pinkston. They were married for over 50 years until he went home to be with the Lord. They had three children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was a cherished member of Heritage Baptist Church, finding solace and community in her faith. She actively participated in the Monday Club and the Republican Women's Committee of Tennessee. Her commitment to spiritual growth was evident through her regular attendance at weekly Bible studies throughout her life.

A talented pianist, Phyllis, found joy in playing songs that celebrated her faith and continually strove to learn new melodies. She cherished moments with her grandchildren, often engaging in lively Uno matches and domino games with friends and family. Phyllis was not only a wonderful grandmother but also a loving great-grandmother. She prayed for her family daily and spoke with them frequently.

Phyllis Pinkston's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in eternal peace.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucille Burchfield, her husband B. Don Pinkston, and her son Donald Mark Pinkston.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Vaughn (Ron), and Martha Grant (Doug);along with a legacy of grandchildren, Timothy Adam Vaughn, Sarah Vaughn Reiser (Clay), Benjamin Aaron Vaughn, Andrew Stephen Grant (Carrie), Cameron Alexander Pinkston, Emma Grant Barker (Ryan); and great-grandchildren, William Patrick Reiser, Isabella Gray Reiser, Timothy Adam Vaughn, Jr., Griffin Samuel Reiser, Samuel Sutton Vaughn, Lilly Mae Grant, Emerson James Vaughn, and Henry Walker Grant.

The family of Phyllis Pinkston will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City.
