UNICOI - Phillip Holt Hensley, 72, Unicoi, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Phillip was a native of Erwin and a lifelong Unicoi County resident. He was a son of the late Holt Hensley, Jr., and Patsy Rhoten Hensley.
Phillip was a 1969 graduate of Unicoi County High School.
He was employed at Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc., retiring as a Plant Superintendent in 2012 after thirty-eight years of service.
Phillip was a former Alderman and member of the Planning Commission for the Town of Unicoi. He was a member and former President of the Unicoi Ruritan Club, and a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church, Erwin.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Hensley.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-one years, Margie Hensley; three step-children, Michael Hensley and wife Susan, Mitchell Hensley and wife Tabitha, Rachael Honeycutt and husband Mark, all of Jonesborough; eight special grandchildren, LCPL Cole Hensley, U.S.M.C., Lilygrace Honeycutt, Audrey Honeycutt, Emma Honeycutt, Isabella Hensley, Tucker Honeycutt, Ava Hensley and John Will Honeycutt; one brother, Freddy Hensley and wife Joy, Erwin; sister-in-law, Joy Hensley, Unicoi; several nieces and nephews, including special nephews Jon Hensley and James Badger.
It was Phillip's wish to be cremated. Private services for the family will be held at a later date.
The family requests that donations in-lieu-of flowers be made in Phillip's name to Isaiah 117 House, P.O. Box 842, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
