Peggy Proffitt Obituary

JOHNSON CITY - Peggy Proffitt, 77, Johnson City, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.
Peggy was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City/Gray. She was a daughter of the late Harold and Mary Lou Greene Keefauver.
Peggy was a 1965 graduate of Boones Creek High School. She immediately began working in the Banking Industry, where she spent her career with several local banks and credit unions, including First Peoples Bank, Tri-Cities Bank, and Mountain States Credit Union, where she served as Branch Manager.
Peggy was a member of Highland Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Curtis Proffitt; her son, Chad Proffitt and wife Tessa, Jonesborough; her grandson, Caleb Proffitt, Jonesborough; two brothers, Johnnie Keefauver and wife Judy, Gray, Randy Keefauver and wife Alex, Charlotte, NC; her sister, Freda Keefauver, Gray; several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., in Highland Cemetery, 485 Highland Church Rd., Johnson City, TN 37615. Byron Paddock, Minister, will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 P.M.
