Peggy Sue Richardson Hensley December 31, 1941 - May 5, 2024
UNICOI - Peggy Sue Richardson Hensley, age 82, of Unicoi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her residence while she was surrounded by her family. She was born in Atkins, Virginia, to the late Harry K. Richardson, Sr., and Ollie Victoria Lindamood Richardson. Peggy has lived in Unicoi County since 1988.
Peggy was a Chrisitan of the Baptist Faith. She retired from the healthcare industry where she worked as a Lab Technician for many years.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved gardening and was certified by the University of Tennessee as a Master Gardener. Also, Peggy was an amateur radio operator KD4JGW.
She was a caregiver to many of her family members. Peggy was an animal lover.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Harriet J. Richardson Barasa.
Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-nine years, Charles Hensley; two children: Michelle Hensley (Bryant) and Earl Thomas Hensley; grandchildren: Frank R. Smith, IV, Brandi A. Walters, Jade G. Walters (Diante), and Arra S. R. Walters; great grandchildren: Ava M. Martin, Blake A. Martin, Alayna R. Walters, Aubrey M. Towers, Diante M. Towers, and Arie Michelle Towers; brother, Harry K. Richardson, Jr. (Debra); several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Amedisys Hospice Staff for their professional, caring, and courteous service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Peggy to your favorite charity.
A private family graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
