Peggy Jean Fender

JOHNSON CITY - Peggy Jean Fender, age 86, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Walter P. Stanley and Addie Mae Pembelton Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Joe Stanley, John Stanley, and Charles Stanley; and two sisters, Betty Dempsey and Gladys Freeman.

Peggy retired with 25 years from Baxter Pharmaseal and after retirement worked as a caregiver for her family and elderly. She loved watching the Boston Celtics Basketball team and spending time with her dogs Little Bit and Bella.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Roger Fender and wife Nancy; two daughters, Elizabeth Miller and Theresa Willis; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 20, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 PM. A Private Committal Service and Interment will be held in the Garden of the Gospels at Monte Vista Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Johnson City Internal Medicine especially Kim Jackson and Ballad Hospice Nurse Amanda for all the love and care that was shown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to favorite local animal shelter of choice.

I worked in the Microbiology Lab at Pharmaseal back in the 1980s. Peggy and her son Roger worked in the Receiving area and I often saw them multiple times each week as I gathered samples for testing. They were always kind and nice to me. Peggy would always offer a listening ear if it was a rough day for me. It´s always hard to lose your mama, especially here at Christmas. Prayers for the family.
