Peggy Dykes Obituary

Peggy Taylor Dykes

January 19, 2026

JOHNSON CITY - Peggy Taylor Dykes, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness, on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Peggy was born into the loving home of Crawford and Pearl Estep Taylor.

Peggy was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and an alumnus of both Appalachian State University and East Tennessee State University. After a brief tenure teaching elementary education, she entered the field of real estate, where she remained for more than 40 years. Peggy was a highly respected and accomplished real estate professional. She earned the prestigious CRS designation, of which only 4% of realtors nationwide attain; a testament to her exceptional expertise, professionalism, and sales performance. She was also the recipient of numerous sales awards that recognized consistent excellence, market leadership, and outstanding results year after year. Known for her integrity, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to clients, Peggy, often referred to by her colleagues as "The Queen", left behind a lasting legacy in the real estate community and in the lives of those who had the privilege to work with and know her.

Along with her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by: son, Eddie Wheeler; brothers, Edwin Taylor and Ronald Taylor; and sister-in-law, Janine Dykes Tilson.

Those remaining to cherish the memory of Peggy include: her beloved husband Ron Dykes; son, Doug (Sandy) Wheeler; grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Sims and Jay (Emily) Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Justice, Ava Sims, Grayson, Hudson, and Kylee Wheeler; brother-in-law, Dave Tilson; sister-in-law, Susan Tunstall, stepson, Chad Dykes; and her precious fur babies, Prince and Princess.

Per Peggy's wishes, a private graveside ceremony will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Niswonger Children's Hospital or to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital in her honor.

Deep appreciation is extended to both Amedisys Home Health and Amedisys Hospice for the comfort, love, and care provided.

Peggy was a Great Realtor, who loved helping people find their dream home, almost as much as she loved her husband and family . She will be missed.

Peggy was such a special person. A sister-in-law like no other. She was an absolute workhorse and made so many people´s dreams come true. And at Christmas when she and Ron would host the whole family, they would have everyone at the table laughing so hard we could hardly eat. I will truly miss that. I would like to share part of a poem to honor her perseverance and strength:
"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be
So He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come to me."
Now she´ll never have to suffer from the sadness and suffering we have on this earth. We know you´re in a place like no other. God bless you, honey.

All My Love,
Susan
