He was an active volunteer on-scene in New York City responding to the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Additionally, Captain Gurdak volunteered at local schools throughout his career to educate children on the importance of fire safety.

So sorry to hear this. Paul was a dedicated member of our unit 103, volunteers for the Palm Beach County Sherriff's office. He served many years in the unit. Great man. It seems only a few months ago we ran into each other at the Jupiter Farms Publix. He seemed to be doing well. We traded some cancer stories (I'm in the same boat). We wished each other well. Rest in peace Paul. We all love you. Ken Bergmann

Condolences to the Gurdak family.. He was a true Patriarch. He did so much for the community here in FL and volunteered with the sheriff's department. He was one of the most noble people I have ever known... Glad to say he was my friend.

My heart goes out to the whole gurdak family. Rest in peace Paul. You were a great man. It was an honor to have ushered with you all those years at 5pm mass at St. Max. Say hello to Harry, Joe, George, and Frank S. The lord needed a good usher.

I was so saddened to learn of Paul's passing. I knew him since the 5th grade at St. Mary's in Miami. Oh, how we feared Sr. Regis! He also was an usher at St. Maximilian Kolbe in Pembroke Pines for many years and always had a hug for my 93 yr-old-mom whom he saved a front-row seat for at Mass. With heartfelt condolences to Laura and his entire family.
