JOHNSON CITY - Norma Jean Hurd, age 87, of Johnson City, TN passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born in Kingsport, TN, on July 13, 1936, to the late Benjamin Perry and Mary Alma (McClain) Thomas. In addition to her parents, Norma was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hurd; her daughter, Karen Hurd; and her brothers, Winfred Thomas and Benny Thomas.
Norma, best known to her loved ones as "G-Maw"; was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Debbie Miller and partner Ken Lavigne; and her son, Kevin Hurd and wife Cissi. Norma's memory will also be cherished by her brother, Jim Thomas and wife Kay. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Chris Miller and wife Kindra, Charlsie Buckingham and Husband Dylan, Alyssa Miller and partner Ian Tawzer, and Chase Hurd; as well as two great-grandchildren, Casey Buckingham and Presley Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted in honor of Norma at Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 396 Oak Grove Road, Johnson City, TN 37615 on Saturday, July 29th, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember Norma's life and the impact she had on those around her.
