JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Norma Jean Hodge Case, 83, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 16, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side. She was a native of and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Elmer Lee Hodge and Louvina Willis Hodge. Mrs. Case was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren in Blountville. She had worked for Head Start for over 27 years and taught Sunday School at several local churches. Norma loved the Lord and was generous and kind to everyone and she never met a stranger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Rev. Dan Case in August 2022; two brothers, Ronnie and Jerry Hodge and a sister, Barbara Leach.
Survivors include her children, Richard L. Case and his wife, Cindy of Johnson City, Steven W. Case and his wife, Teresa of Carter County, Darrell L. Case and his wife, Lori of Johnson City and Michael J. Case of Carter County; a sister, Gail Ward of Johnson City; grandchildren, Sherry Williams, Brittni Jones, Miranda Case, Steven Case Jr., Dayton Case, Tiffany Buchanan and Stacy Huie; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Case will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 20, 2023 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Charlie Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Graveside services will follow in the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 345 Pleasant Hill Road, Blountville, TN 37617. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
