Nancy Simcox Obituary

Nancy Cochran Simcox

January 12, 2025

JOHNSON CITY - Nancy Cochran Simcox, 83, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 12, 2025, with her devoted husband, Wayne, of 62 years by her side.

Born in Dante, VA to the late Earl Cochran and Evelyn Osborne Self, Nancy was lovingly raised by Roxie Green, who nurtured her with the care of a mother.

Nancy lived a life filled with love, grace, and creativity. A faithful member of Central Baptist Church, she committed her life to her family and friends, her faith, and her community. Nancy's warm and giving heart touched everyone she met, and her home was a reflection of her vibrant spirit. She had a talent for decorating and a passion for collecting antiques, which she displayed with elegance and care. She found joy in knitting and crafting, creating beautiful pieces that were treasures for so many who experienced them.

Above all, Nancy's greatest joy was her family and dear friends. Her unwavering love and support were the foundation of her life, and her kind, nurturing presence will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hamner (J.T.); her brother, Jim Cochran; and her half-brother, David Self.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Wayne Simcox, who was not only her lifelong partner but also her steadfast companion and caregiver. Together, they shared an extraordinary bond built on ever growing love and a partnership that was a testament to true dedication. Their life together was filled with shared joys, quiet moments, and a profound connection that inspired all who knew them. In addition to Wayne, Nancy is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Boyle (Mike); her brother-in-law, Larry Simcox; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to know her and experience her warmth and kindness.

A celebration of Nancy's life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan St. Johnson City, TN 37601. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Tommy Hood.

Following the service, a graveside committal will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in the mausoleum, 1019 East Valley Dr, Bristol, VA 24201.

Donations may be made in Nancy's memory to Central Baptist Church.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ballad Health Cancer Care for the compassionate care they provided to Nancy during her journey.
