Nancy Meador Obituary

Nancy Mohr Meador

April 19, 1945 -

April 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Meador, who left us on April 11, 2025, just days shy of her 80th birthday. Born on April 19th 1945 in Detroit MI. She had lived the past 50 years in Johnson City. Nancy lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, touching the hearts of those who knew her.

A dedicated teacher of the arts for 42 years in NC and TN, she graduated from UNCGreensboro with a master of arts degree. She could bring out the best in each child that she taught. She was the art teacher of the year in 2009.

Nancy loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. Her plants were very special to her. She was an arts and crafts show junkie and enjoyed them most with her art girls. Her big love was her love for the lake which she enjoyed with the salty and twisted sisters and many friends. Nancy and Danny were long time members of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with a good support group of friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by Sister Judith Brooks, Father Edward J. Mohr, Mother Lilliam C. Johnson Mohr

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband Danny Meador of 51 years and her son Rett Meador. Together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. She will be deeply missed by Danny and Rett and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family will hold a celebration of Nancy's life that reflects her love for teaching and zest for life.

The family wants to thank the ICU staff at the Johnson City Medical Center and The Select Specialty Hospital Tri-Cities for their care of Nancy.

The service will take place at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 E. Oakland Ave. Johnson City, TN 37601, on Saturday. April 19, 2025, at 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to local educational charities, a cause close to Nancy's heart. We know she would love to see her passion for education of the arts continue in her honor.

Rest in peace, Nancy you've left a lasting impact and your spirit will forever be in our hearts.

Dear Family,
I am very sad that Nancy has passed. We were colleagues at Liberty Bell M.S. for many years and she and I were involved with Odyssey of the Mind where she was a Judge. Nancy was always fun and upbeat - just a great person to be around. I still have the Odyssey of the Mind Suspenders she gifted me. That was more than 25 years ago. Nancy was a very special person. She will be missed.
