Myrna Evon Kenner Martin November 23, 1936- February 6, 2024
JONESBOROUGH - Myrna Evon Kenner Martin, age 87, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away on February 6, 2024 at Angel Medical Center in Franklin, NC after a long battle with cancer and related health complications.
Born in Aurora, IL to the late James and Myr Kenner, Myrna was a long-time resident of Jonesborough, TN. She was a 1954 graduate of West Aurora HS and attended Illinois State University to study music and home economics. She was employed by Washington County Schools for 30+ years as a bookkeeper and instructional assistant before retiring.
In her personal time, Myrna enjoyed using her musical talents through many local groups. She sang in her church choir, rang handbells, and played trumpet in the Johnson City Community Concert Band. Myrna's faith was very important to her, and she was a dedicated member of Cherokee United Methodist Church. In her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering weekly at Franklin Woods Community Hospital and spending time with friends and family.
Myrna was predeceased by her parents, James and Myr Kenner; her brother, Dean Kenner; and her husband, Charles Martin. She is survived by her children, Diana Roberts; Penny Banks; Scott Martin; Jamie Watson and her husband Richard; and April Mullikin and her husband Steven; as well as 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00am at Northridge Community Church - Springbrook Campus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Johnson City Community Concert Band or a Christian organization of your choice.
