Mildred Pratt Obituary

JOHNSON CITY - Mildred Carver Pratt, 93, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Mildred was born September 23, 1930, to the late Charles Lee Carver and Naomi Bradford Carver in Dry Creek, West Virginia. It was while working at Dairy Queen on Market Street in 1951 that she met Merv Pratt, who ran the Dairy Queens in east Tennessee. They were married January 10, 1953, and Mildred continued working at Dairy Queen until the birth of their daughter, Mary Lynne in 1956. She was an excellent homemaker and made her family her hobby. Mildred always supported her husband and daughter in their pursuits of flying airplanes and riding horses.

She was a longtime member of Grace Brethren Church and she last attended services at Johnson City Alliance Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Carver, Ted Carver, Ruth (and Wayne) Isaacs, and Charlie Joe Carver.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 70 years, Mervin Pratt; daughter, Mary (and Steve) Dwyer of Saco, Maine; brothers, Jim (and Loretta) Carver, John (and Renée) Carver, and Tom (and Anne-Marie) Carver; sister-in-law, Linda Carver; and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred's family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A committal service will commence at 11:00 am the following day, Monday, November 27, at Mountain Home National Cemetery (within the James Quillen VA Medical Center grounds by Veterans Way and Lamont St). Please gather at the cemetery gate by 10:50 am to go in procession to the committal shelter. The family respectfully requests no flowers be sent during this time.

I spent many days with this sweet family. We went on trips together. I rode horses with Mary Lynn and her horse Apple . Mildred would worry so over Mary taking off like lightning. She was a wonderful mother and she made sure Mary and I had fun experiences. Mildred brought so much fun to my life and I will never forget the joy she brought to me .God be with you Merve and Mary I love you Connie Sneed Little
