BRASELTON, GA - Michael David Slemp, age 69, of Braselton, Georgia formerly of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Emory University Hospital surrounded by his family.
Michael is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 44 years, Judy Slemp; son, Matthew C. Slemp and his wife, Chelsea and their five children, Mackenzie, Morgan, Mia, Maxwell and Milly all of Braselton, GA; sister, Mary Beth Carey (Maywood) of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Vincent Marshall (Brenda) of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law, Jan Keller (Joe) of Limestone, TN; brother-in-law, Jerry Couch (Mercedes) of Johnson City, TN; aunt, Shirley Hurdt of Johnson City, TN; special friends, Jason & Ivy Painter of Johnson City, TN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends & colleagues.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mattie Marie Cole Slemp, and brother, John D. Marshall.
Michael was born on February 6, 1954, in Norton, Virginia, and was a 1972 graduate of Powell Valley High School in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He did his undergraduate studies in business at Liberty University and received his master's degree in health care administration from Ohio University. Michael retired as Radiology Administrator from Unicoi County Hospital with over 40 years of service in the medical field. He was devoted to his Lord and Savior serving as Chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School teacher at Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN. He was a current member at First Baptist Church Atlanta, where his beloved son, Matthew, serves as a Worship Pastor. Michael loved model trains, but his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his beautiful five grandchildren. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend.

A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate the life of Michael Slemp will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church Atlanta, 4400 N. Peachtree Rd., Atlanta, GA 30338 (770-234-8300) with Dr. Anthony George officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service at the church, as well as after the service. Flowers are accepted, but those desiring may make memorial gifts to First Baptist Church Atlanta in memory of Michael David Slemp.
