McKinley Pugh

McKinley H. Pugh, 74, of Elizabethton, TN died Monday March 31, 2025 in Johnson City Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in an auto collision on Mary Patton Highway on March 26, 2025.

Mick was born in Waterloo, IA and lived 30 years in Minnesota before settling in Carter County in 1993.

He was an Eagle Scout, and played both piano and drums in his youth. He was an avid reader and woodworker his whole life. With his wife of 53 years Kay, he enjoyed golfing, square and round dancing, camping, and playing cards with friends. They traveled the country for a year in their RV as a retirement celebration.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Audrey M. Pugh.

He is survived by wife Mary Kay Pugh of Elizabethton, brother Phil Fontana of Iowa City, IA, daughter Melissa Pugh of Bristol, TN, son Matthew Pugh (Delcina) of Bristol, TN, son Mark Pugh (Shea) of Zuni, VA, and three grandsons Riley age 16, Lane age 13, and Levi age 9.

Family visitation will be Saturday, April 12, 2025 starting at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Fountain of Life Bible Church, Johnson City, TN. A remembrance prayer follows at 4 p.m. by Pastor Vic Young.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
