ELIZABETHTON - Mary Elizabeth Picard, 89, Elizabethton passed away Thursday August 17, 2023 at her residence. She was born October 24, 1933 in North Hampton, Mass. to the late Albert C. & Agnes Wheittus Chappel. She had lived in Carter County for the past 16 years. Mary was a retired Registered Nurse. She was a graduate of the Monson Junior Senior High School, Monson, Mass. Mary was employed by the Monson Development Center, Monson, Mass. for 28 years. She was a member of Carter Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Debra Picard.
Survivors include two sons who are both active Stoney Creek Volunteer fire fighters: Ronald J. Picard, Jr. and Wayne (Deborah) Picard. Two granddaughters: Emilyann (Ronnie) Rutherford, April (Chris) Chatman. Four great-grandsons: John & Matthew Rutherford and Jesse & Marshall Chatman.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Mary Picard will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris McCoury officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Ron Rutherford, Chris Chatman and Mark LaFountain and members of the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home prior to the service. Friends may also call at the home of Wayne & Debbie Picard.
