Mary R. Maupin June 15, 1933- June 18, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - Mary R. Maupin, 91, of Johnson City, TN went to her eternal home on June 18, 2024, with her loving daughter by her side.
Mary was born June 15, 1933, in Greene County. She graduated from Chuckey High School where she was on the cheerleading team. She was a caring RN who graduated from Fort Sanders Nursing School. Mary retired from John H. Quillen VA Medical Center after thirty-three years and went on to work at Johnson City Specialty Hospital. She was a member of both Otterbein United Methodist Church and Wesley Memorial UMC.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-four years, John Paul Maupin; daughter, Lisa Kay Maupin; parents, Raleigh, and Selma Ricker; son-in-law, Randy Wheelock; sisters-in-law, Francis Maupin, Barbara Frye; brothers-in-law, Alexander Wayne Maupin, Glen Ray Maupin, Ed Frye. She is survived by her daughter and grandson, Carol, and John Alexander Wheelock; sisters-in-law, Eva Bird (Robert) and Linda Maupin; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and her little Pekingese, Abby.
In addition to her dedication to her family and her handicapped daughter, Lisa, Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, antiquing, crafting, and fellowship with friends and family. Her grandson, Alex, brought her great joy. After retirement, she became involved with the Crumley House Brain Injury Center, where Lisa attended.
The family wishes to thank Princeton Assisted Living staff for their care and compassion over the past 4 1/2 years, Franklin Woods Hospital nursing staff, Dr. Keith Cook and Aleshia, Dr. David Moulton, caregivers Judy Crouch, Deana Heaton, Carol Knoll, and Amedisys Hospice special nurse, Sonya Atkinson.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Tetrick Funeral Services, 3001 Peoples Street, Johnson City, TN with the funeral service commencing at 12:30 PM. A graveside committal will follow at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Vale Cemetery, 4050 Stone Dam Road, Chuckey, TN.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the Crumley House Brain Injury Center, 300 Urbana Road, Limestone, TN 37681.
