JOHNSON CITY - Mary Ellen Collins, 93, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 20, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born October 30, 1929, in Bristol, VA to the late Stella and Jim Campbell. Mary Ellen married Jack Collins on June 9, 1950. She loved her church and was a long-time member of Harrison Christian Church, where she was member of the Ladies Circle. Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips out West with her friends. She was an excellent cook, avid seamstress, passionate Atlanta Braves Fan, and enjoyed watching the Young and the Restless. Mary Ellen was a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Collins; brother, George Campbell; and foster parents, Lawrence and Annie Sheffey.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lori Curry and husband Robert; "adopted" daughter, Anne Hughes; nephews, Richard Bouknight and wife Loretta, David Bouknight, Ronnie Collins, and Mike Campbell; and niece, Sandy Davenport.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10:30 am at Washington County Memory Gardens with Pastor Karl Gasser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary Ellen's honor can be made to Harrison Christian Church, General Fund, 2517 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, TN 37604.
