ERWIN - Marie T. White, age 91, of Erwin, went to be with the Lord, passing away at her home on Monday, January 8, 2024. Marie was born on November 10, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Hubert and Ethel Tolley. She was preceded in death by F. B. White, her husband of 72 years, and by several other family members. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved books and was an avid reader. Marie and her husband also loved to farm, garden, work hard and square dance!
Marie was a longtime member of Rock Creek Presbyterian Church. Faith, family and others were always top priorities. Her love shown from teaching Bible School and Sunday School classes at church to working several years as a volunteer with the Unicoi County Care and Share program.
Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory, children: Phyllis Baxter and husband Charles, Steve White and wife Kris, grandchildren: Carrie Tipton and husband Kevin, Andy Baxter, Katie Snyder and husband Dan, Lucas White and wife Jenny, Matt White and wife Sarah, great-grandchildren: Candace Tolley, John Tolley, Ben Tolley, Carly Baxter, Lydia White, Eliza White and Ila White, sister: Dorothy Burrow.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Marie T. White in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Andy Blackwelder will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 pm and will continue until service time on Saturday. A graveside committal service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024 in Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 2:30 pm on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be named later.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Marie to Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, 800 Rock Creek Road, Erwin, TN 37650.
The family would like to offer special thanks to all those who have helped with Marie's healthcare needs. The children would also like to thank Carolyn and Greg Tittle for being such wonderful neighbors to their mom.
