Marie Linville Ramsey September 9, 2024
UNICOI - Marie Linville Ramsey, age 91, of Unicoi, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Monday, September 09, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi and daughter of the late Nathaniel David Linville and Bessie Beatrice Tapp Linville.
Marie was a lifelong member of Unicoi Methodist Church. She loved her church and her church family. Marie was very involved with church activities as well as community events.
She retired as Administrator from the Unicoi County Health Department after thirty-two years of service. She was Clerical Consultant for the Upper East Tennessee Public Health Region. After retirement, Marie began working as Administrator at Roan Mountain Rural Health Center. Marie served as Vice President of the Tennessee Public Health Association. She served as chairman of the clerical section of the Tennessee Public Health Association.
Marie was a member of Eastern Star. She was the world's greatest cook! Marie was a meticulous homemaker who enjoyed taking excellent care of her family and her home.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by four brothers: Marion Linville, H.C. Linville, Robert "Buster" Linville, and James "Jimmy" Linville; three sisters: Lucille Linville Piercy, Betty Linville Black, and Margaret Linville Yeager; brothers-in-law: Fred Tipton, Ray McInturff, I.B. Piercy, C.B. Chandler, and James Ramsey; sisters-in-law: Helen Linville, Pauline Linville, Daphne Linville, Mary Lou Chandler, and Janice Ramsey; several nieces and nephews.
Marie's survivors include her husband of seventy-one years, Jerry Ramsey; two sons: David Ramsey and wife, Mallene, Mark Ramsey and wife, Michelle, all of Unicoi; grandchildren: Taylor E. Ramsey and Andrew D. Ramsey; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren: two sisters: Eula Linville Tipton of Johnson City and Kay Linville McInturff of Unicoi; brother-in-law, Don Yeager of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Ruth Linville of Unicoi; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Ramsey family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Unicoi Methodist Church. Dr. Mike Pinner, Reverend Kyle Tipton, and Reverend Eddie Blazer will officiate Marie's 1:30 p.m. funeral service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family will serve as pallbearers.
