JOHNSON CITY - Margaret Etta Britt, 88, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 24, 2025 at Agape Healthcare in Johnson City. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late Robert and Pearl Blevins Smalling. Margaret attended Piney Grove Freewill Baptist and Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Britt in 2021; a son, Gary Smalling; a sister, Betty Watson; a brother, James Smalling and a son-in-law, Marty Milsap.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Britt and his wife and Elisa; her daughter, Debbie Milsap; two brothers, Jackie Smalling and Wayne Smalling; two sisters, Pam King and Pat Webb and husband, Randy; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Margaret will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in Garland Cemetery, Stoney Creek area of Elizabethton with Pastor Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City then proceed to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Agape Healthcare Center of Johnson City for the care and compassion they provided Margaret during her stay there.

I really liked Clarence and Margaret. I traded with Clarence on old cars for years. Margaret and my Dad work together in the 60s. If you grew up in Piney then you knew them both. Prayers for the family. Sad day indeed.
