ERWIN - Louise Evelyn Bailey Adkins, age 94, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Governor's Bend Assisted Living. She was born in Erwin on August 16, 1930, to the late Harley and Mable Tipton Bailey.

Louise was a Christian and member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Louise loved to cook, she especially enjoyed making cakes and candy to give to her family and friends.

She retired after twenty-four years of service from Hoover Precision Products in Erwin. Over the past few years, Lousie lived at Governor's Bend Assisted Living. She attended church there and liked participating in various activities with her friends. The staff at Governor's Bend became a part of the Adkins family! The family greatly appreciates their loving care of both Louise and Kenneth Adkins.

In addition to her parents, Lousie was preceded in death by her loving husband of seventy years, Kenneth Adkins on November 08, 2019; brother, Reverend Edwin Y. "E.Y." Bailey; brothers-in-law: Dee Adkins, Stewart Adkins and his wife, Dot; sisters-in-law: Lala Purvis, Rosella Hughes, Juanita Murphy, and Dale Miller.

Louise leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Judy Adkins Sorenson and husband, Michael of Powell; grandson, Garry Lane Phillips, II and wife, Jessica of Knoxville; great grandchildren: Maggie, Reid, and Raylan Phillips; brother, Roland Bailey and wife, Linda of Erwin, sister-in-law, Jenny Bailey of Erwin, Betty Adkins of Erwin, Phyllis Edwards of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Ralph Adkins and wife, Carol of Nebo, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Adkins family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Noah Taylor and Reverend Alan King will officiate at the 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Music will be provided by Damaris Higgins. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memory Gardens with Reverend David Foster officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Bailey, Jim Bailey, Terry Bailey, Fred Ayers, Nick Phillips, and Jesse Hensley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the following: Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church, Pastor Noah Taylor, Brother Larry Anders for support and prayers; Governor's Bend Assisted Living staff and special dedicated nurses; Caris Hospice Healthcare nurses and staff, special nurse, Zonya Cureton; Robert Ledford Funeral Home staff and special friend, Betty E. Ledford.
