Lois Broyles Obituary
September 30, 2024
LIMESTONE - Lois Hammer Broyles, age 92, of the New Salem Community, passed away Monday morning, September 30, 2024.
Lois was a bus driver for the Washington County School System for thirty years and had worked at Industrial Garments in Erwin.
She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronnie and Jan Broyles, Terry and Sandee Broyles; one daughter: Sheree B. Cloyd; daughter-in-law: Tammy Broyles; grandchildren: Tonya (Kevin) Broyles, Daniel Broyles, Brandon (Ashley) Broyles, Tracey C. (Brandon) Shipley, Emily B. (Santo) Cicirello, and Kara B. (Logan) Clark; great-grandchildren: Ivan Shipley, Cooper Broyles, Maddox Broyles, Ella Clark, River Shipley, Knox Broyles, Kiley Clark, Kelsey (Landon) Masters, and Kelly Reed; special friend, Mildred Snapp.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: Quay Maynard Broyles; one son: Tony Allen Broyles; parents: Henry Augusta "Gus" Hammer and Mary Henley Hammer; one sister: Wilma H. Bailey; special aunt: Lora Henley; and Ruth Sprinkle, who was like a sister.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday, October 5th, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1779 Bailey Bridge Road, Limestone. Funeral services will follow at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Craig Ponder and the Rev. Brandon Broyles officiating.
Interment will be in Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Cecil Quinn, George Eberhart, Ronnie Snapp, Doug Fox, David Shipley, and Roy Gillis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Women's Sunday School Class of New Salem Baptist Church.
The Broyles family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice of Elizabethton for their care and assistance during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Flood Relief Fund, 91 Guy Brown Road, Chuckey, TN. 37641.
Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home, Greeneville, is in charge of arrangements.
