Lindsay Grogg Obituary

Lindsay Grogg

June 14, 1983 -

November 18, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lindsay Kathryn Grogg, who died on November 18, 2024 at the age of 41. Her passing leaves a profound emptiness in our hearts.

Lindsay was born on June 14, 1983 in Johnson City, TN to Sam and Kay Grogg. From a young age, she was known for her free spirit, her kindness, and her deep love of the ocean and swimming in general. The water was where she felt most at peace-whether it was at the beach, in the pool, or just floating under the sky.

Lindsay graduated in 2001 from Science Hill High School where she swam on the swim team. She attended Carson-Newman University and received her bachelor's degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Chicago held a special place in her heart; she loved exploring the city in search of vintage shops and looked upon those years as one of the highlights of her life.

Lindsay was dedicated to her community. She spent countless hours volunteering as a past President of the Junior League of Johnson City, always striving to make a difference in the lives of others. Her compassion was boundless, and she was particularly passionate about rescuing animals. Her generosity of spirit left a lasting impact on the people she worked with and the many lives she touched.

Though Lindsay struggled with alcoholism for a portion of her life, it was only one part of her story. She was also a person full of potential, warmth, and joy. Those who knew her best will remember her for her laughter, her loyalty, and her unwavering desire to help others. She had a big heart, and she gave it freely, even when the battles she faced were overwhelming.

Addiction is a monster, and she fought for years to have a normal life, but the monster always came back. If you struggle with addiction, tell someone. The more you speak about it, the less power the monster will hold.

Lindsay is survived by her parents, Sam and Kay Grogg; sister Lacy Pugh (Taylor) of Austin, TX, niece and nephew Madelyn and Abram Pugh; cousins Holly Austin (Terry), Tyler Bishop, Kira Grogg (Luke Maus), Kevin Grogg (Katrin) and Keziah Lacey; Aunts Margaret Hess (Peter Lacey) and Linda Bishop; and uncle Tom Grogg (Jeri) along with many precious second cousins. Her family will always cherish the memories of her kindness, her laughter, and her love. She was preceded in death by grandparents Sam Grogg, Sr., Mildred Grogg, Letha Grogg, and William and Peggy Hess.

A memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church, 300 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, on November 23rd at 2:00pm. All who knew her are welcome to join us as we celebrate her life, her contributions to our community, and the love she gave so freely.

Rest in peace, sweet Linz. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

I loved this girl! She always called me an Auntie Lynne. And gave me credit for showing her how to shop. She lit up a room with her smile. Her unwavering love for animals was so endearing. I will miss her dearly. Rest in peace dear girl (English phrase)

Lindsay came to my Rope Wall Yoga quite regularly. Her spot was all the way at the end by the Buddha statue (to my right as the teacher). She was adorable. I only hope her nearest and dearest have wonderful memories to give them peace.

When our daughter Katie started to Science Hill High School, Lindsay graciously gave her rides to school and was so gracious and kind to her even though she was two years older than Katie. It meant so much to her and made a great impression on me. Lindsay was delightful.
