JOHNSON CITY - Lemuel Dale Moore, 86, Johnson City, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Four Oaks Health Care Center, Jonesborough, following a lengthy illness.
Dale was born and raised in the Leesburg Community of Washington County and had been a resident of Johnson City for most of his adult life. He was a son of the late James Robert "Jim Bob" and Jessie Velma Martin Moore.
Dale retired from Clyce Distributing Co. in 2008, where he worked as a salesman for thirty-eight years.
He was also a lifelong farmer on the family farm in Leesburg, where the Moore's were well known for their Polled Hereford cattle.
Dale was a Presbyterian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Grace Elizabeth Christion Moore, in March of this year, a grandson, Zachary Moore, a great-granddaughter, Zayla Moore, and a brother, Daryl Moore.
Dale is survived by his sons, Charlie Moore, Jonesborough, and Perry Moore, Johnson City; six granddaughters, Shannon Lane and husband Shannon, Limestone, Sara Hyatt and husband Brian, San Antonio, TX, Elizabeth Moore, Johnson City, Jessica Barry and husband Thom, Elizabethton, Kara Leigh Gilliam and husband Matt, Gray, Olivia Presnell and husband Bailey, Jonesborough; eight great-grandchildren, Dakota Lane and wife Hannah, Logan Lane and wife Skylar, Christian, Jachai and Elisha Moore, Zachary, Zaydence and Zion Moore, Emyrie Barry; one great-great-grandson, Kody Lane; sister, Ferris Broyles, Limestone; brother, Jim Bob Moore and wife Linda, Telford; nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved puppy, Ollie.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Four Oaks Health Care for the excellent care given to Dale during a difficult time.
The funeral service honoring Dale will be conducted Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Pastor John Moore, officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside committal service will be held Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in Fairview Cemetery, Jonesborough. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 P.M. Sunday.
Those who prefer to make memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may do so to New Hope Brethren Church, 352 New Hope Rd., Jonesborough, TN 37659.
