Laura Haws Williams February 4, 1952- April 30, 2024
DANIEL ISLAND, SC - Laura Haws Williams, age 72, passed peacefully on April 30, 2024.
Laura was born in Johnson City, TN on Feb 4, 1952, to Dr. Frank P Haws and the late Barbara Haws Jilton. She was raised in her beloved grandparents' Jonesborough, TN home. She attended Converse College and graduated with degrees in English and Secondary Education from East Tennessee State University. After teaching high school for several years, Laura discovered that she enjoyed real estate, selling homes in Greenville County and Daniel Island. Later, she developed a thriving business with Rodan and Fields.
Outside of work, Laura spent time with family and friends, and enriched herself in her numerous hobbies. She was a classically trained pianist, a natural interior designer, and eventually a painter: however, Laura's pound cakes were her true love language. Laura enjoyed the outdoors, and on most days, she could be found going for a walk with her dog Gracie, tending to her yard and plants, gathering with friends on her patio, or taking in the beauty of a sunny day. Laura was also very involved in her church. She appreciated the rituals of communion-from Sunday mornings at church to conversations around a table.
Laura's most admirable trait was her ability to make those around her feel special. She never knew a stranger. Everyone was attracted to her vibrant smile and warm personality. Laura loved to visit with everyone and always had a sincere compliment to offer. Even after being diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia in 2023, she lived life to its fullest and continued to make friends even when her words and voice were gone.
Laura was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Williams. Her spirit will remain alive in the hearts and memories of her large family including her father Dr. Frank Haws (Patsy) of Huntsville, AL; her children Judith Correll Smith (Kevin) of Awendaw, SC, Sam Correll (Amber) of Prosper, TX, and Caroline Correll Gebhardt (Nick) of Atlanta, GA; her stepchildren Andrea Williams Bragg (Ray) of Hilton Head, SC and Scott Williams (Sally) of Franklin, TN; her grandchildren Ellie, Harrison, and Anna Smith, Jackson and Lilly Correll, Cole, Leo, and Beau Gebhardt, Abbey Olliff (Ben), Julia Bragg, and Anna Williams; her siblings Frank Haws (Judy) of Hilton Head, SC, Angie Poole of Lexington, KY, Ashley Guyton (John) of Tampa, FL, Meredith Balasco (Greg) of Tampa FL, Lyle Haws of Buena Vista, CO, Ned "Nod" Jilton of Gray, TN; her beloved cousin-brother Dr. Robert Hash (Laura) of Huntsville, AL, her Aunt Judy Hash of Kingsport, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff who became family at Wellmore of Daniel Island and to Melody and the Crescent Hospice team and to Laura's loving and devoted friends.

Thank you to the family for a beautiful service today at Grace Church. Laura and I met while we lived and built homes on Daniel Island. Over the years we enjoyed many times together and as everyone has said, she was beautiful inside and out. She always made everyone feel so special and that is a true gift. She will be greatly missed for many of us, but she has left a lasting love for life with all that have been touched by her.

Laura Williams was the ultimate southern belle. She made me feel special and helped me see my own strength. I will cherish the lessons I learned from her forever and always remember her hugs and her beautiful smile. I will always think of her every time I see a golden retriever... she loves them so

Laura and I became friends in 1997 when she worked at Ryland Homes. We became instant friends and a few years later she helped me through a divorce by suggesting...actually insisting...I talk to our mutual friend about getting started in new homes sales at Centex. She literally changed the direction of my life and so in 2010 I invited her to look at Rodan + Fields, as a way of returning the favor. She said yes. From there on we were business partners and together, we had amazing fun built on a beautiful friendship of love and mutual respect. Oh how I loved our time together. Truly, Laura was a beautiful soul inside and out. I loved her infectious laugh, and her wit. I know she will be missed by everyone she touched. Sending my heartfelt condolences to her entire family. See you on the other side, Darlin'.

Laura was beautiful, within and without. I learned of her passing only last evening; today I am searching my memory for our times together. Having known Laura since first grade at Jonesboro Elementary School, there are many, I´m sure, but I can only recall about ten of them. Such is life. I had dinner with her 2+ years ago and she was still the lovely, bubbly, funny and kind person I knew so long ago. "Special" is such an overused descriptor in these times; but, I can´t think of another word that describes Laura so well. The world is a lesser place without her.

I knew Laura at Jonesboro HS as a happy and very beautiful person that would light up any room. I was a year ahead (1969) of her class.
Many years later our second daughter was born in the US Navy Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. Our other children have family names, but I named our daughter Laura. A beautiful name for a beautiful person and I wanted my daughter to have her name.
Laura is now 33 y/o and very much like her name sake. It was my pleasure to have known Laura Haws. I'm sure she left countless memories to all her family and friends.

Such a beautiful sole. Laura will always be a special friend. She was one of the first ones I made when I moved to Charleston, and wow, did we have fun! I am already missing her, but I know that heaven is enjoying her bright sunny smile. Love you, my friend. Until we meet again.
