GRAY - Larry Dean Mullins, age 72, Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away January 11, 2024. Larry had a big personality and was loved by so many people he had met through the years and that he loved. He loved helping people and supported many charitable causes.
After graduating from East Tennessee State University, Larry wore many hats in his long career. If there were an honest dollar to be made, he wanted in on it. He was a schoolteacher, coal miner, heavy equipment operator, remote DJ/Boom Box operator, court reporter, and many other jobs that helped him make an honest living. After serving as Director of Northeast State Technical School, he founded Industrial Electronics Services, Inc. and that was his heart. He loved his team and their accomplishments. He was very proud of the slogan someone once named them "from cars to mars". He served on the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission in Nashville for 15 years. He was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church in Sneedville, and First Baptist Morristown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Euna Martin Mullins, and sister Betty Keplinger, Grandparents, Neal and Julie Gibson Mullins and Ease and Sarah Burchett Martin, his mother and father-in-law, Willis and Maxine Byrd, and his brother-in-law, Ron Byrd.
He leaves behind his most beloved wife, Kathy Mullins, his beloved daughter, Laura (Rodney) Tomlinson, and his precious grandchildren, Anna, Brenna, and Cameron Dean Tomlinson. His brother, Earl (Brenda) Mullins, nephews, David and Steven Mullins, and Jeffrey Turner; Aunt Edria (Paul) Humphrey, and Aunt Evelyn (Ron) Campbell, his sisters-in-law, Mona (John) Ramsey, and Cheryl Byrd, niece, Nikki (Jimmy) Morton and nephew, Lynn (Ashley) Byrd. His best friend Don Raines and many other cousins, friends, relatives and acquaintances that he loved dearly.
His family will receive friends on Monday evening, January 15, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a funeral to follow at 6:00 pm led by his pastor at First Baptist Morristown, Dr. Dean Haun. He will be entombed at Washington County Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 10:30 am. Donations may be made to First Baptist Morristown, 504 West Main, Morristown, TN 37814.
