Larry Lewis Obituary
ERWIN - Larry David Lewis, age 81, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Erwin Health Care Center. A native of Mullens, WV, Larry is a son of the late Otho Lewis and the late Anna Elizabeth (Woods) Lewis Stratton. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of Unicoi Baptist Church. Larry liked sports and fishing. He was a very religious man who cared deeply for others and was an animal lover. He enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley McKinney and his son-in-law, Gary Bowen.
Larry David Lewis has left behind to cherish his memory: daughters: Denisa "De De" Cooper, Mitzi Bowen, and Libby Lewis; grandchildren: Brian Bowen (Kayla), Heather Cooper Adams (Jonathan), Jada Collins, and Taylor Collins; great-grandchildren: Marlee Powell and Madi Bowen; brother, Ray Lewis; and sister, Norma Johnson.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Erwin Health Care Center. Also, to the staff of Amedysis Hospice of Elizabethton, especially Nurse Becky Allen.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Larry David Lewis in a funeral service to be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Todd Mclaughlin will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 1:00 pm and will continue until service time on Saturday at Valley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter, Mitzi Bowen, at 609 Scioto Road, Unicoi, TN. A graveside committal service will be held in Washington County Memory Gardens at 10:00 am on Sunday, September 19, 2023. Those attending the committal service should meet at Washington County Memory Gardens by 9:55 am for the service. Honorary pallbearer is Brian Bowen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Larry's name to Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots at https://johnson-city-tn.toysfortots.org; or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
